Panorama Point and Goosenecks Overlook in Capitol Reef National Park are short, family friendly trails leading to amazing views near the west entrance.
The turnoff for Panorama Point and Goosenecks is located 2.5 miles west of the visitor center on Highway 24. Panorama Point is located just after the turnoff. There is a one mile dirt track to the end of the road where a parking area for Goosenecks Overlook and Sunset Point is located.
Panorama Point
The overlook is 100 yards or so from the parking area. The slickrock trail ascends a plateau with 360 degree views.
Goosenecks Point
Continue to the end of the dirt road to the parking area. The short .2 mile trail leads from the parking area to the Goosenecks Overlook of Sulphur Creek Canyon and Sulphur Creek 800 feet below.
Sunset Point Trail also leaves from this parking area. The trail follows the rim of the canyon to a small summit with panoramic views popular at sunset. It is a little over a half mile roundtrip.
