The Mesa Verde visitor center is located at the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park along US-160 which runs between
Cortez and Durango. It is located about 10 minutes from Morfield Campground, 30 minutes from Far View Lodge, and 45
minutes from Cliff Palace.
The Mesa Verde Entrance:
It replaced the Far View Visitor Center as the park’s primary location for orienting visitors. It also houses the
park’s archives and museum collection of more than three million objects.
The Visitor Center has a monument to the Pueblo cliff dwellers:
It also has exhibits designed to help guests learn about the Ancestral Puebloan culture as well as the building’s
energy-saving and sustainability (LEED).
Tickets for the Cliff Palace, Balcony House and Long House ranger tours are sold at the visitor centers. They may
also be purchased at the Durango Welcome Center at 802 Main Avenue. A limited number of tickets may be sold at the
Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum.
