There are plenty of 10 person, 12 person and 14 person camping tents for sale online these days from popular tent brands and manufacturers including Coleman, Columbia, Ozark Trail and CORE. You can buy a 10 person tent for far less than it would cost you to get three hotel rooms for everyone for your weekend (or longer) vacation.
If you are going camping with a large family or group for a weekend or more of outdoor recreation, you can either choose a large 10 plus person tent or you can choose to bring several smaller tents. A large tent can offer everyone more space to spread out and many ten to twenty person tents have multiple rooms or room dividers to separate the various spaces.
These large tents are a far cry from the tiny two person tent that I had in the backyard as a child. You could not even stand up in my childhood tent. These options are much larger. If you were looking to set up your own glamping experience with several different rooms to enjoy, these tents would offer you the space to do so.
I am not sure that I have ever seen a tent of this size in any of the national park campgrounds that we have stayed at overnight. However we have seen plenty of 5-8 person tents setup in the group campsites. If you have a group campsite reserved, these tents offer the option of putting more people under one roof as you enjoy the outdoors with your friends and family. Some of these tents are probably too big to use in at least some of the individual sites that we have stayed at in the parks. We would hate for you to get to the campsite and not be able to setup your tent!
These tents are for the backyard or car camping only. You are obviously not going to be able to go backpacking with any of these tents as they simply weigh too much. It would be much more convenient to divide everyone between several smaller tents rather than have one or more people try to drag along a 20 to 40 pound tent of this size.

Coleman describes it as more like a house than a tent. Color coded poles and continuous pole sleeves makes it easier to setup, and it stores conveniently in the carry bag.
